End user license agreement

1. What this agreement covers

This End User License Agreement ("EULA") governs the license granted to you to use the Splitwiser web application at app.joinsplitwiser.com and the free calculator tools on joinsplitwiser.com, together "the software." It does not replace the Terms of Service, which cover accounts, conduct, and liability; both apply together.

2. License grant

Subject to these terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the software for your own personal or household expense tracking. This license does not sell you the software or any copy of it; you are licensed to use it, nothing more.

3. Restrictions

You agree not to:

• Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the software
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software, except where a law prevents this restriction
• Resell, rent, lease, sublicense, or otherwise make the software available to third parties as if it were your own
• Remove or obscure any proprietary notices in the software
• Use automated systems to access the software at a scale beyond ordinary personal use, without our written permission

4. Ownership

The software, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by the operator of Splitwiser and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. This EULA gives you a license to use the software; it does not transfer any ownership of it to you. Data you enter into the software remains yours, as described in the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

5. Updates

Splitwiser is an actively developed, beta web application. Its features, design, and underlying code can change at any time without prior notice, since there is no separate version to install or opt out of; using the web address means you are using whatever version is currently live.

6. Termination

This license ends automatically if you fail to comply with any part of it, or if we suspend or close your account under the Terms of Service. On termination, you must stop using the software. Sections of this agreement that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership and limitation of liability, continue to apply.

7. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The software is provided "as is," during a public beta, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of Splitwiser is not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the software. See the Terms of Service for the full liability terms that apply alongside this EULA.

8. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of [PLACEHOLDER: governing jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict of law principles.
